Medical students organized the heart cup for a noble cause

The strongest antidote to any disease, at all times, has been the support of the patient offered by the loved ones, an obvious fact that brought together several students and doctors at the Sports Complex of Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy on October 2.

Driven by the same noble impulse – to save a child’s delicate heart – the medical students – members of the Association of Medical Students and Residents from Moldova – organized a charity football match with the generic name ”The Heart Cup”. The match took place in the context of World Heart Day and brought together nine teams of students, resident doctors and doctors from several medical institutions of the capital.

Coincidentally or not, providence caused the tournament to be won by the selected representatives of the Institute of Cardiology, those who take care of patients with heart conditions on a daily basis. The team of Timofei Mosneaga Republican Clinical Hospital was ranked second, followed by the selected resident doctors’ team of Nicolae Testemitanu University.

The event was dedicated to Anisia – a 6-year-old girl who suffers from advanced heart failure and needs a heart transplant. The operation is very expensive and is to be performed in Italy. Attending the event with her family, Anisia addressed a message of gratitude to participants and organizers.

Maria Magdalena-Pojoga, one of the organizers of the charity action, noted that ”all the participating teams had the sweetest prize to enjoy, namely the warmth, gratitude and hope in the eyes of little Anisia”, and that ”this event proved once again that the most beautiful language is kindness”.

In the first two days after the launch of the fundraising campaign, approximately 11 thousand lei and 100 euros were collected. We urge all people of good faith to donate, from heart to heart, to the bank accounts indicated below:
